Based in London, Valery is a Private Client Director of RBC Wealth Management's Private Client Fiduciary Services business.
Valery specializes in international wealth planning and is responsible for Business Development and Strategy in Eastern Europe.
A dual German/Russian national, Valery grew up in Kazakhstan and was educated at Moscow State Institute for International Relations (University), where he attained a Bachelors Degree in law and Masters Degree in European tax and customs law. Valery is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is member of the board of the STEP special interest group in Russia.
Valery began his legal career in early 2000 working for Ernst and Young in Russia, before joining a private equity fund company. Prior to joining RBC, he was employed by PWC as senior manager, where he practiced primarily in international tax and domestic corporate law, with specific focus on fiduciary services and international tax and legal structuring for Russian, Kazakh and Ukrainian high net worth individuals.
Valery joined RBC in his current business development role in April 2011 and will be focusing on personal holding structures, international tax and corporate law. He has particular expertise in trusts, private foundations and other fiduciary structures for high net worth individuals with connections to Eastern Europe through residence, family/inheritance law or investments.
Outside of his professional life, Valery enjoys basketball, chess, and spending time with his wife and son.
