Mr. Ellinas is a Partner and a Board Member of the Law Firm, Areti Charidemou & Associates LLC. His main areas of practice are Company Law, Tax Law, International Trusts, Funds, Shipping Law, Banking and Finance Law and Contract Law. Mr. Ellinas has acted as the Legal Advisor of various European Banks in cross border financing transactions for the acquisition of moveable and immovable property and the provision of satisfactory collaterals and guarantees. Moreover, he has advised major ship owning and ship management companies in relocating / establishing new ventures using Cyprus as their flag of choice. He has been involved in the preparation and filing of applications for obtaining permits for regulated business (such as AIF and CIF) from both the Central Bank and the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. In several occasions he has provided his legal opinion to the Underwriters and Joint Bookrunners in regards to the issuance and listing of Bonds, IPOs and SPOs.
He graduated with an LLB Law from the University of Essex and obtained an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Edinburgh. He is a Member of the Cyprus Bar Association, the Athens Bar Association and the International Tax Planning Association. Moreover he has obtained the professional title of Solvency Consultant by the Solvency Service of the Republic of Cyprus following the enactment of the legislation and success in the relevant examination. He has published articles in Financial Magazines in regards to Cyprus Tax Law, Taxation on income from Intellectual Property Rights, Investment Funds and others and he has been speaker in conferences in Israel, Hong Kong and China.
