This session will consider why English law often governs commercial arrangements on the international stage. We will focus specifically on how English law can be used in Kazakhstan to stimulate investment in the country using the example of the Astana International Financial Centre and the reasons why the Government has chosen to build the system based on English law. We will also look more broadly at the benefits of using English law in a commercial context in Kazakhstan and issues to consider to when choosing which law should govern particular commercial arrangements.
